The BR01, the new P2 coupe designed by Paolo Catone for SMP Racing, whose work progress had been put up in discussions, is finally ready. The Russian tycoon Boris Rotemberg, reveals great satisfaction, has unveiled the newborn in the box of your team during the two days of official practice of the ELMS, held as usual on the Castellet circuit. Without letting go to rusched comments, it seems clear that, as usual, Catone has worked very carefully on aerodynamics, trying at the same time not sacrificing too much the handling and especially the habitability: the cockpit is perhaps the most wide ones seen so far and the pillars do not create visibility problems.
Very interesting the crash box, widely separated from the front wheel arches, and above all the sidepods, whose refined form contains the unique style of the Italian engineer. Original also the gearbox, unique in its kind, which will be coupled to the Nissan engine. The car remained into the box, missing some details, but the first shakedown in expected on Sunday, always on the circuit of the Var, with Minassian at the wheel.
If testing will be free of troubles, the BR01 will be present at Silverstone for the first race of the championship.
