Porsche and Toyota have worked for a long in the course of the first session of the WEC tests, carried out in the morning on the Castellet circuit and complicated by the presence of a strong Mistral wind that blew at times with gusts up to 80 km/h. While the two Audi R18 have spent much of the four hours inside the box, the crews of the two teams opponents drove a lot, recording the absolute best times under one minute and forty seconds. Great difficulty in the CLM, long in the pits and uncompetitive enough to be overtaken by a number of P2.

No revolution for Toyota in 2015, but a search of refinement of a product that has already demonstrated high potential in the last season. This is the summary of the presentation of the 2015 Toyota Hybrid, officially shown to the press few hours ago on the starting straight of the circuit Paul Ricard, on which will be held from tomorrow the Prologue of the WEC. The prototype was refined in all parts, with a focus on weight reduction. Major changes also to the suspension, in order of optimizing the use of the tires. Like last season were prepared versions either at high and low downforce, defined after practice sessions previously held at Le Castellet, in Aragon and Portimao. Petrol engine ...

The BR01, the new P2 coupe designed by Paolo Catone for SMP Racing, whose work progress had been put up in discussions, is finally ready. The Russian tycoon Boris Rotemberg, reveals great satisfaction, has unveiled the newborn in the box of your team during the two days of official practice of the ELMS, held as usual on the Castellet circuit. Without letting go to rusched comments, it seems clear that, as usual, Catone has worked very carefully on aerodynamics, trying at the same time not sacrificing too much the handling and especially the habitability: the cockpit is perhaps the most wide ones seen so far and the pillars do not create visibility problems.
Very interesting the crash box, ...

The World Endurance Championship will start next week at the Paul Ricard circuit, but certainly the medias does not have time to waiting.
After the great effort spent by Nissan for the presentation of the GT-R LM during the 2015 Super Bowl, the Japanese company has encountered numerous technical troubles first, and later in frontal crash tests (unconfirmed), that would force her to give the first meeting of the season.
Doubts on the potential involvement of P1 hybrid in the first events of the season, were already suggested after premature withdrawal from the tests of Sebring last week.
The default, officially caused by a mechanical problem not resolved on the track, it was ...

Endurance championships started their season with the traditional press conference held in the luxurious headquarters of Potel & Chabot, well known hosting and catering firm in Paris.
The glamorous event in Cambon Capucines pavilion gave also the opportunity to clear up some rumours that had livened up past months, even if the final entry list will be confirmed only at the eve of the first race.
Starting from ELMS, after three years the series comes back to four categories with the addition of P3: at the present moment all the 7 cars listed are Ginetta-Juno, the only prototype that suits rules, but in the next months the homologation of new models could attract new entries. Good news ...

The WEC anxious running for the organization, which had marked the opening season with results not always up to expectations, this year has probably left place to major attention to the details which going through a lean period cannot help offering a breath to whom, with sacrifice, goes on investing in endurance-races. After the race of Sebring wise exclusion, which last year had practically seen the cars under 2011 configuration, WEC has started during the holy week with private tests on the circuit of Le Castellet. An inheritance received by Le Mans Series, with the cars of the new ELMS FIA that have run on Tuesday and Wednesday, introducing the two-day tests destined to the entering cars ...

The 80th edition of the 24Hours of le Mans, which had to be marked by new motor race technologies, the hybrid ones to be clear, ended mainly with nothing done. The R-18 e-tron quattro, the hybrid weapon four-wheel drivetrain made by Audi, has conquered the first row in practice and the first two positions in race. Anyhow, as far as the result is concerning there are some kers working problems which happened on a number of occasions on the winning car. Besides, despite the good will of the rivals, the Audi could only win this Le Mans, due to the absence of its historic rival Peugeot, whose sports programme has been crashed by the economic crisis. The TS030 hybrid ...

Three weeks ago, arriving at Paul Ricard circuit for the official tests of the European Le Mans Series, we had noticed the difficulties involving the category in consequence of the split from the newborn World Endurance Cahmpionship, and accompanied by the economic crisis which, now more than ever, seems to leave no respite to the Old World. However, it’s certain that none of us had only dared think that the situation would worsen like that in such a short time so as to threaten the continuation of the championship even before the first 6 hours of the year. On Sunday evening, when it was officially announced the elimination of the second round of the championship, which it had to take ...

After the long lethargy which followed the last brilliant race of the past championship at Estoril, Le Mans Series has officially returned on the track for the 2012 official tests session that has taken place as usual at Paul Ricard’s circuit, the same which will give hospitality in less than one month to the first six hours the year. The occasion has been a tempting opportunity to better understand how this championship is evolving, overshadowed in recent months by the newborn World Endurance Championship, an orphan of P1 and scaled down in terms of interest with respect to the previous years. An analysis which hasn’t been avoided by Patrick Peter in company of Vincent Beaumesnil, ...

Arriving at Estoril for the last round of the 2011 championship of Le Mans Series, we had the impression of taking part in a farewell party of an old friend, one of those who can scarcely fall into oblivion.
The birth of the World Endurance made official in the days devoted to the 24 hours has forced Patrick Peter to recall the creature done by him with ACO in 2004, with the purpose to avoid relegating the event to a sort of second division of Endurance. Thus the six hours of Estoril has been the last appointment where the P1s have taken part in the championship: since 2012 the queens will be the P2s, less expensive, and in consideration of the costs of the world championships, for the teams ...

The last European round of the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup, raced at Silverstone, the background that only a year ago gave hospitality to the debut of this category already close to retirement, has once more lived on the duel between Peugeot and Audi, entered in very good form after the long summer break. As expected, the fight for the victory had no other protagonists, but the race was characterized by a great balance among the petrol-engine cars in P1, leaders of a duel lasted from the first up to the last bends of the race, which made the event look like more a Grand Prix than an endurance race.
After a good number of postponements, the Six Hours of Silverstone has been the scenery of ...
